spring essentials guide

Girls, today we are talking spring…specifically fashion for one of our absolute favorite times of the year! I do have to quickly mention that it is officially spring cleaning time! Don’t worry, this will be light work if you have done the sensible thing and purchased a window cleaning robot. Moving on, each of us pulled together a spring inspired outfit from head to toe…our essentials for the season. We each have our own easy to pull together look but there are some very apparent themes…closed toes are traded in for the spring time sandal/wedge…light weight scarfs replace jackets and sweaters. No matter what’s trending, these are timeless pieces that we think are completely transitional and perfect to take you into the warmer, sunnier days ahead. Take a look and be inspired to style your own spring looks!

Neesha’s essentials:

Dressy shorts: I am loving having a fun pair of casual yet dressy shorts so I can wear them to a birthday party or even an adult dinner party. They are super comfy and loose fitting and can be dressed up or down with heels and flats. (BCBG)

Plain white button down: As a working mom this is a MUST in my closet. I can use it as a sophisticated look or a casual look on the weekends. The great thing about a white button down is that you can pair it with any color accessory and it will look great. (White House Black Market)

Scarf: My style is pretty classic with bits of high fashion or flare and this zebra patterned scarf says it all. The colors are basic but the print is bold so you can wear it with any color shirt or just the basic white to give it a more clean look. (Zara)

Lace up wedges: As a mom who loves heels these are the perfect compromise – in fact, I love them so much that I might go shopping for some more beautifully designed wedge heels online to build up my shoe collection. They are comfy, versatile because of the basic tan color yet gives you that feeling you are dressed up in heels. (Saks Fifth Avenue)

Statement necklace: Full of spring colors and a simple gold chain, this necklace goes great with the basic white shirt. It add a fun and flirty side to your look without over doing the costume jewelry. Pair it with a nice black dress for nighttime and it will look just as stylish! You can get a realy lovely statment necklace from a lot of retailers – a friend of mine got one recently from https://www.haruni.com/, but there’s lots of options out there! (Francesca’s)

Puja’s essentials:

Maxi dress: I am loving maxi dresses for the spring since they can be dressed up with heels or down with sandals. Plus they are comfy and fun to wear. My color of choice is green which is just perfect for spring days. (Max Studio)

Wooden wedge sandals: Wooden accessories give you an earthy spring feel and I love how this element just adds richness to an otherwise traditional wedge. Plus having your feet show up in a fun color like orange makes your outfit just pop even more. (Frye)

Sheer linen shawl: I love this as a little drape for when spring days get a little chilly. Choosing one in a light, spring color makes it easy to pair and the light-weight linen makes it simple to carry. (Local boutique in Uganda, Africa)

Necklace: Long, layered gold necklace: Gold is totally in and I love the Indian mala style of this necklace. Layers add dimension to jewelry this season and mine includes a wispy tassel at the end. (Stella and Dot)

Reena’s essentials:

Sleeveless blouse: Really like this airy shirt that you can wear on a date night or even a girls night out. Love it because it’s a bold spring/summer color that can be brightened up even more with accessories. (Nordstrom)

Dark wash skinny jeans: Love, I mean LOVE these jeans because you can wear skinnies with essentially anything from a t-shirt, to tank tops to a dressier top! (Express)

Sandals: I absolutely like these sandals because they are so comfy and have them in practically in every color. I am all about comfort more than looks and thee practically go with everything. You can dress them up and also wear them casually! (Franco Sarto)

Necklace & wristband: Really like the color of this necklace that you can make a bold statement with because of the bulkiness of it! The band is a great piece to finish up the look with a little diamond for some shine! (Francesca’s)

Shraddha’s essentials:

Blouse: Love a bohemian inspired sheer, airy blouse for spring. It’s a transitional piece that can work from day to evening depending on how you style it. For this look, I’m going with a neutral light beige color that is perfect for spring especially. (Leifsdottir)

Skinny Jegging Tights: Pair fuller blouses with a slim leg. Although I love linen for spring and summer my go to bottoms are always skinny leggings/jeggings and jeans. Just make sure you choose more breathable materials for the season. You don’t always have to go dark with your bottoms – choose a different color to change it up. I’m going with a light almost washed out gray. (Hue – Nordstrom)

Flat Wedges: This season equals sandal weather and showing off pretty painted toes. I’m all for comfort and love flat sandals but sometimes a little height is good too and for that, I do wedges. Wedges give you that extra height without discomfort. I have lots of wedges – most often I am drawn to solid black, tan, or metallic to pull together my outfit. But lately, I have added a few pairs that have some interest which can pull an otherwise standard outfit together. These in particular are gray/cream faux snakeskin. (Schuler & Sons – Anthropologie)

Scarf: Spring time is still transitional, so I choose to layer with a scarf to stay warm once the sun goes down. This scarf is not sheer but a thin opaque golden yellow. It provides warmth while also adding in a pop of color. (United Colors of Bennetton)

Jewlery: Although I love the look of layering necklaces and bracelets, with a rambunctious toddler pulling at my baubles – it’s not always realistic. What I do love is keeping it simple and here’s how I do it. I love the layered look so I often pair one long necklace with a shorter one in the same metal – mostly gold for me. I wear a thin gold cuff – sometimes two on one hand and a watch on the other. (long necklace: Towne and Reese, short necklace (not pictured): Dogeared, gold cuff: Nordstrom, watch: Michael Kors)
