numsies: receiving blanket toy review

The blanket you brought your baby home in from the hospital, birthing center or wrapped him or her up after your home birth is super special…it’s your baby’s first blanket and often, toddlers find comfort in hugging those same blankets.

When I was pregnant with my second child, my friend and chai momma Neesha gifted me a gift certificate to Numsies…the original plush toys made from babies’ hospital receiving blankets, all hand made from a woman from the Adirondack Mountains of upstate New York.

After my son was born, a few months later, I pulled out the gift certificate and mailed it in with Ayan’s receiving blanket.

The turnaround was so quick and Numsie Smith emailed me with a tracking number, upon when I found Ayan’s little toy at my doorstep a few days later.

It was adorable. She made a little bunny, which included a stitching of his name. I can see him carrying it around and is a nice way to save that blankie for him and as a memory for my birthing day as a momma. I also dig that this isn’t some mass produced company, (I picture this sweet lady in the mountains pouring love into each toy!)

Seriously, it makes a great gift if you know a momma to be or are attending a baby shower soon. The Numsies shop is on Etsy or Facebook.

p.s. I’m in no way affiliated with Numsies and just really loved this idea!
