25 Holiday Movies To Watch With The Family
The reality is that this year, even some of us who don’t really decorate, have put up lights and a tree. Some of us started listening to holiday music the day after Diwali. Some of us even got the cards printed and mailed out already. It’s like we were desperate for the cozy, comfy warmth that is undeniable this time of year no matter what or how we celebrate.
So the only thing left for us was a good list of movies to get us all through this final month of 2020. There’s really nothing like a good holiday movie. Just something about it. So bring on the popcorn, hot cocoa + a blanket or two and check out a movie or more from this list that we know the whole family can watch together.

We love this animated version of the Grinch. It’s kid friendly and full of humorous moments for the whole family. “A grump with a mean streak plots to bring Christmas to a halt in the cheerful town of Whoville. But a generous little girl could change his heart.” Available on Netflix. Disney’s reimagining of the Nutcracker. Available on Disney+ on December 4, 2020. A heart-melting story adapted from Disney’s Cinderella set in a modern day world. This is one we can watch over and over again. Will Ferrel makes us laugh, cry and fall in love every time we watch it. “Leonard returns from the North Sea expedition and finds things chilly between him and Sheldon, while Howard’s relationship with his mother opens the door to questions about his masculinity.” This is a short movie, available on TBS. A cute movie about Santa’s youngest son and his magical adventure to save Christmas. You’ll love both the original and the sequel. It’s available on Netflix and we recommend watching them back to back! A classic! We love the original and the sequels!! Now available on Disney+. We love frozen and especially Olaf. I mean, who doesn’t? Available on Disney+. We’re suckers for a good love story set during the holidays. Available on Netflix. The Christmas Dragon is available on Amazon Prime. A very magical Christmas movie that every kid will love. “An inspiring adventure based on the beloved children’s book by Chris Van Allsburg. When a doubting young boy takes an extraordinary train ride to the North Pole, he embarks on a journey of self-discovery that shows him that the wonder of life never fades for those who believe.” If you love the show, you will definitely love the movie! Available on Disney+. An adorable movie featuring Mariah Carrey. Cute puppies and Christmas? Sign us up! Available on Amazon Prime. “In a town where dogs have been banned by the mayor and his nasty dog-catcher of a brother, twelve-year-old Emma teams up with Cathy, the owner of a nearby canine sanctuary, to have this wicked law overturned.” Available on Tubi. A heart-warming classic that “kids these days” need to watch. “Refusing to give up her belief in Santa Claus, a child, Jessica Riggs (Rebecca Harrell), discovers a hurt reindeer in the woods, which she believes to be Prancer. With the help of a sympathetic veterinarian (Abe Vigoda), Jessica takes care of the wounded creature. It’s supposed to be a secret, but eventually a store Santa Claus (Michael Constantine), the girl’s dad (Sam Elliott) and the entire town find out about Prancer, leading to big problems for Jessica and her family.” Available on Hulu. You’ve probably seen Frozen one too many times, but it’s extra special during the holidays. Available on Disney+. (but you know that because it’s on repeat.) A classic Christmas movie with the former governator! This movie is too funny and the whole family will be LOLing. Available on Hulu. I think we all fell in love with JTT when this move came out oh so long ago. The kids will love this classic movie while we think about our younger days! All three movies in this trilogy are worth watching. We love the story, the family love and the elves! Available on Disney+. Disney creates a beautiful movie from the original Christmas Carol story with all the lessons in place about the true meaning of the holiday. Available on Disney+.
