celebrating a fifth birthday at a painting pottery studio
My super sweet niece Aria turned 5 earlier this year. And to celebrate, my brother Darshan and sister-in-law Ankita asked the birthday girl to choose how she wanted to celebrate. Up until now, Aria’s parties have been completely planned by mommy and daddy…from her big one year celebration to her more intimate second at home…decorated by yours truly – see here for my post on Aria’s Elephant Themed Second Birthday Party. Her third and fourth were pretty low-key as well, but still full of fun.
And so being 5 and all and very opinionated and incredibly into all things art, Miss Aria proclaimed that she wanted her 5th birthday to be a pottery painting studio. When I found out this was her wish, I was so happy. I loved that she got to choose, that it was going to be some place creative, that she and all her friends would get to make something and for my brother and sister-in-law…I was happy that they wouldn’t have to deal with planning a party and all that goes along with it. They like simple, no fuss…and this was perfect.
Ankita picked a local studio called Creative Clayhouse to host the party on Aria’s actual birthday, which perfectly fell on a Saturday this year. Aria got to choose exactly who she wanted there. Decorations were kept at a minimal with a happy birthday banner, balloons and a few other things since the pottery studio already was cute enough. It was a drop off party so only the kids got to attend but Ankita had a few girlfriends stay back to help. The kids got to select and paint a piece of pottery to take home. Pizza was ordered in and cake was the final sweet treat. Sounds like a great time to me…simple to plan, simple to execute, kids had a blast and most of all…Aria loved it!
Just another creative idea to think about for your kid’s next party – of course if they are old enough – rather than going a more traditional route.
Here are a few more pictures from the party. Enjoy!
