music theme baby nursery

When it was time to decorate the nursery for my second son, I wanted to do something with a little modern twist. I really like clean looks in the room and not cluttered with wall art and patterns everywhere. I decided to do a music theme nursery. Also as a second time mom, I was definitely thinking in a more functional way rather than a decorative way. I wanted to make sure I was not buying junk that I would not use again. The majority off my stuff was off Etsy, which is a great site to get one of a kind pieces for your room.

For the main wall, I chose a chocolate brown color with bright orange and aqua blue decals. My little one gets so excited to look at the wall every morning because of the bold colors. I saw some beautiful DIY peel and stick wallpaper which would look great in any room however I already had a tin of brown paint open, so I decided to use that instead of buying new wallpaper. I’ll definitely keep wallpaper in mind for the next time I’m decorating a room though!

For the bedding, I kept it simple. It’s my second child so I already had sheets and didn’t want to buy everything over again. I got a guitar blanket made with an orange minky color on the inside. The orange matched the orange I had on the decals on the wall. Best part is, the blanket is so practical. It’s thick enough to be the cover for his crib but thin enough to still use when we travel.

On the other wall, I got prints of brown and orange guitars and (this was my favorite!) a sign that said “oh, Sweet Child O’Mine?.

For the decorations in the room, again I kept it very simple. I took Ayven’s Raffi collection of books and put them on ABC block sliver plated book ends. These sing along books are amazing and highly recommend them for any parent to read to their kids.

As the final touch, I put a baby Einstein music block on the dresser for show. Again thinking functional, it is the perfect piece to put out for show but something your baby can play with also!
