Hey mommas…something we just had to share, asap. We’re totally surprised over here about The Honest Company being sued for mislabeling since all of us have been obsessed with the brand. Here’s more info about the lawsuit, the products that are being discussed and what is in them.

Jonathan D. Rubin sued Jessica Alba’s The Honest Company for labeling the products as “natural”. The suit that was filed alleges many of her products contain synthetic ingredients and that the sunscreen is ineffective. Due to these consumer products being “mislabeled” by Alba’s company, a lot of people may have been misled into buying her products as they agreed with what the product labeling told them. Some people may see this as unethical. Correctly and efficiently made labels that you can make from something similar to this Paul Leibinger GmbH & Co. JET One industrial inkjet printer could be important in making sure that you have all of the relevant information placed on your product, so that your customers remain loyal, and safe, whilst using your items. This will ensure that no one else gets sued. The suit claims, “The products described as ‘natural’ actually contain synthetic chemicals such as Methylisothiazolinone and Phenoxyethanol, both synthetic preservatives, Cocamidopropyl Betaine, a synthetic surfactant, and Sodium Polycrylate, a petrochemical-based additive.” Some of the products that deemed to be mislabeled include:

  • Honest Hand Soap
  • Honest Diapers
  • Honest Mutli Surface Cleaner

When confronted about the issue, The Honest Company shared the following statement:

“Our Sunscreen Lotion was tested by an independent 3rd party, against the protocols prescribed by the U.S. Food & Drug Administration’s (FDA) monograph for over-the-counter sunscreen products. The results showed that our product is effective and safe for use as an 80 minute water-resistant (FDA’s highest rating), SPF 30 sunscreen lotion in accordance with FDA regulations when used as directed …The number of complaints received on our own website about our Sunscreen Lotion constitute less than one half of one percent of all units actually sold at honest.com. We stand behind the safety and efficacy of this product.”

Although the suit is going on, Alba has offered a statement for her customers: “This is the beginning of a long journey and we expect we will make mistakes and drift from the path here and there. We are only human.”
