Non medicated tips on soothing allergies for children and adults

It always feel like allergy season in our house. If I am not stuffy, my husband or child is stuffy. Knowing how often Ayven is affected with allergies, we really try not to give him any medicine as there are so many natural ways to soothe that horrible feeling. Here are some remedies we have used with Ayven. These can be used both for kids and adults if you want!

Hypoallergenic pillow, pillow case and mattress pad: Use at least two pillows when you go to sleep for adults. For kids, 1 pillow is enough.  The more elevated you are, the better chance you will be less stuffy and get a good night’s rest. It is important to use a hypoallergenic pillow and pillow case to keep those dust germs away. We also prefer using a hypoallergenic mattress pad. Here is our pick:

Ajwain or Carom Seeds steaming: This is an Indian remedy a friend gave me and does wonders. It has been used for ages as a medicinal ingredient in Ayurveda. Simply Add 1 tbsp of Ajwain to a bowl of boiling water and inhale the steam. You can also steam a towel and place the towel on your head or chest to relieve the congestion. You can find these seeds at most grocery stores.

Wash hair before bed: This has made a huge difference for Ayven. You would be surprised of how much gets stuck in your hair by the end of the day.

What other tips do you have for soothing allergies 🙂  I am always looking for new ideas!
