So incredibly excited to kick off a new series including each of us for spring 2017 essentials! This is kind of a high level list of what I’ve recently purchased and older staples that I love which I’ve been pairing together to create some of my easy, comfortable but stylish (at least I think!) looks for the season. We just got back from a trip to Playa Mujeres in Cancun (highly recommend!) and a lot of what I am showcasing here, are things that worked so well for a warmer, tropical environment but with cooler, enjoyable nights.
So some tops that I am loving right now are crop tops (but not too cropped that they reveal my mid drift but just cropped enough that they easily tuck into my higher waisted jeans or pants). And I’m also loving the slit or peekaboo sleeve tops that are all over the place right now.
Below, from left to right, I have a basic white modal tee from none other than Target! Target has some great basics and because the pricepoint is good, I don’t feel bad in getting a couple. The second is a fluttery sleeved floral printed crop top that I got from Nordstrom Rack on sale for like 8 dollars! It’s by Lush and goes really well with distressed lightweight black jeans. And the last one is also from Nordstrom Rack but is by Sanctuary. This top is current with those slit sleeves I was mentioning before. Looks great with black jeans too for a head to toe monochromatic look OR even white jeans to really make both colors pop. Add in some statement earrings, say in turquoise or even a cobalt blue – love that look!

I’m a jeans girl – love the comfort. Even when my girls are getting dolled up in their dresses and heels, I usually try to get away with wearing jeans and flats lol. These black AG jeans (again, Nordstrom Rack!) are my favorite right now for nights out. I love pairing them with all of the tops above but also basic tanks, flowy tunic tops, and longer light weight cardigans. The are super skinny but lightweight so that they don’t stick to you – love it. The olive colored pants with floral embroidery – love these right now too. I paired them with a shorter fitted black tank in Cancun for dinner one night. Some gold hoops and black sandals – that outfit was so cute. These pants are soft, silky and I got them at none other than Target! I could see pairing them with a white tank for a day time look with natural colored sandals too. The yellow skirt is from Zara – sorry didn’t get a better picture of it but it’s tiered and very light weight material. I actually use this in three ways – a skirt with tanks, as a dress when I pull it above my chest and it comes down to about my ankles and also as a bathing suit cover up. In Cancun, I used it as a cover up one day – it looked amazing against my bright cobalt blue bathing suit. In Cabo last year (yessss…we heart Mexico!), I wore it out one evening as a dress. I love finding items that can be re-purposed and this skirt/dress/cover up is one of those items. I got it at Zara last year on sale for like 15 dollars and I love that I have gotten so much use out it. I think they have the same skirts out this year so definitely check it out. Bonus, the skirt dries so quickly if you’re at the pool or beach and happen to get wet!
Ok, let’s talk bathing suits. I already posted earlier this month on my new favorite one piece by La Blanca. It’s the same as this blue one but in black. I love it. It’s got lingerie straps and covers everything in the right places but still feels stylish and current. I need one pieces at this point in life with two boys who are constantly pulling on me not to mention a big three-year old that wants to be carried – EVERYWHERE! This one piece especially in the blue, felt special and made me feel covered yet not too covered, ifyaknowhatimean?! I found this kimono-esque cover on a last-minute trip to Target the day before we left. And it couldn’t have been more perfect with the blue bathing suit. The gold with blue combo is something that I really am into and against tanned skin…its really really pops. I honestly think it would look good on anyone! This kimono would also work if paired with skinny white jeans + a white or blue tank for a comfortable but spring day time look.
For me spring also means sweaters – especially out here in Southern California when the nights still feel cool because of that ocean breeze. I picked up two sweaters that I think work really well right now. The fringed one is from Target and I’ve been wearing it with light blue frayed skinny jeans (but really any color would work). It’s so comfy and perfect for evenings when the sun is down and you need something for some warmth. The white sweater is from Anthropologie and it’s on sale right now! It’s super current being cropped and the balloon sleeves make it feel unique. I love this sweater with pleated skirts and jeans. In white, it feels right for the season and it’s light weight so it works for spring.

Shoes! Really, sandals! There are so many cute options out there. For me, this time of years means toes out but keep the comfort in. So much running around outside but you still want to look stylish. Right now, I am loving these: Steven Madden Rizzaa suede tan sandals that wrap around the ankle, Sofft Mirabelle sport black sandals, Billabong poolside flip-flops and Tory Burch black flip-flops. I’m keeping the colors pretty basic but so far these options are working with pretty much any outfit. Plus they are all comfortable.
For accessories – I am really into the beaded earrings that are seen everywhere from Target, to Anthro, to Nordstrom and little kiosks at the mall.
Statement earrings with tassels – similar here – are so cool too. I have the above Bauble Bar earrings in the seafoam green and bright blue – similar here. And the tassel earrings below in blue – all from Nordstrom. They go with so many outfits and make any otherwise standard option pop.

These totes are so cute and functional for spring/summer. Again, a bright pop of color that just makes you smile. I love the yellow one.

And finally products! My go to products for more sun time: lately, using a lot of Sun Bum – their sunscreen, leave hair conditioner with UV protection and lip balm are so so good – (can find at Nordstrom Rack, Target and Amazon). Still love Super Goop (it’s kinda greasy but i love it for arms and legs while at the pool or beach because of that nice sheen plus protection). The beach waves spray by Frederic Fekkai is still a favorite and smells so good. And good old rose spray – that is always in my bag whenever I am out period. But especially during this season. It’s refreshing, perks up makeup and feels so good. My newest find is from Trader Joes and makes me so happy because right now, I love smelling like a coconut. Something about it – even if you are stuck at your desk, using this body butter makes you instantly transport into a better place at least mentally and you just feel good! Plus it’s super hydrating especially after beach days in the sun.

Also loving (I did an entire post on this too recently) the Laura Mercier Candleglow line of products, especially this foundation for glowy coverage.
Well those are my spring must haves…hope it inspired you a little. If you have any questions, let me know…otherwise enjoy the warmer, longer days and more fun in the sun and sand too!
