My chai mommas Neesha and Shraddha have great taste in fashion and I love their spring essentials part one and two in our series here! I was so excited about putting this together because I truly love spring, it’s my favorite season. I’m really into Ayurveda, the ancient healing science of India, and in Ayurvedic thought, spring time is when gentle rains soak the land. The earth itself is saturated with moisture as the landscape becomes a wellspring of life. Spring is a season of birth, new beginnings, renewal, and growth—a time for the earth to make manifest the latent potential within all things, a time of…that FRESH feeling.
And so I just love applying that freshness to all that I wear too;)
Another Ayurvedic tidbit is that your skin is like a sponge. What you put on it affects your body seeping in through the pores to the nitty-gritty crevices of all your cells. It’s why I make sure everything I put on is pure. If you can eat it, it’s ok to put on the skin is how I view it.
Here are my fave beauty products for the spring:
Like Shraddha, rose spray is a must for me. I love Pratima Ayurveda and Ajara Ayurveda rose sprays. The Ajara one is a nice toner and the Pratima one is a nice mist to spray after you put on makeup or even all over after a bath. And since roses symbolize this flowering season for me, I dab on some Rose essential oil as perfume to stay au natural. I also like this Jo Malone Nectarine Blossom and Honey perfume whose citrus notes are super fresh but not overwhelming.
For body moisture I am loving the Pure French Lavender Body Cream, it is sooo nourishing.
Now let’s talk clothes.
I’m a 50/50 kind of girl when it comes to super comfy to stylish. Let’s just say that’s the NYC meets So Cal in me;)
I love blues. Blue works well on my tanned skin and it just reminds me of the ocean. I love this new off the shoulder top I picked up from the fun BP section of Nordstrom’s.
Plus after a trip to India recently, this white Tunic top is so bohemian fun! I got this one in India but similar here. I also love my simple but sweet lace top that is great for nights out. It’s by Melrose and Market, a super fun brand that I got from a Trunk Club purchase, but similar is available here.
Spring reminds me to layer since it can be warm but those breezy days require something more at times so these layering camisole tanks are a must and are super affordable at Nordstrom’s, and available in so many colors.
Then I can throw on this light sweater from Nordstrom’s that can be dressed up or down too!
I love long maxi dresses and skirts and was so excited when I found this gorgeous silk one on sale at a local boutique in Encinitas, CA. She doesn’t have an online store but there is a similar one here. I am big on scarves and shawls and just because it is spring, doesn’t mean you can’t accent with a scarf. This light weight and breezy bright turquoise BCBG goes well with a sleeveless beige top or over a white spring dress. I had bought it from an outlet store but this one is nice too.
My super comfy casual side loves leggings, especially as a yoga teacher, so I love wearing these soft Lularoe leggings on my teaching days.
For accessories, Mala girl necklaces are my new fave go to for casual or dressy and go with anything. They are so chic and feel classy spiritual plus I know the owner personally and love her as a person! I also love this natural obsidian Buddha necklace when I wear my tunic tops.
This statement ring is one of my faves all year round, it is from a trip to Napa Valley but here are similar ones. Sometimes I just wear my wedding band and this ring and it’s all I need.
Like Neesha, I love the Axel and Ani bangles, plus my jade bangle I bought on my travels in Bali whose green just feels good in this season, similar one here. I also remember to wear my Lokai bracelet since I love the meaning of it. The White Bead is meant to remind you to stay humble – carrying water from Mount Everest, the highest point on Earth, the white bead represents life’s highest moments. The black bead is there to stay hopeful –sitting directly opposite its white counterpart, the black bead holds mud from the Dead Sea, the lowest point on earth, signifying the difficult moments you experience throughout life.
For earrings, I love my diamond studs from my honey on Valentine’s Day many moons ago, but also like to swap for colorful gemstone studs I bought from a gem store in India…similiar here. I am also into the light airy mandala types, (these are from Argentina but similar here) and my fun Kate Spade yellow hoops.
For shoes…peep toe in the spring reminds me of strappy open sandals saying hold on, summer is almost here!
For sandals, these colorful sandals also give plain spring dresses some flavor or pair them with jeans for a pop from Target. They don’t sell them anymore but similar ones are here.
On cooler spring days, I love my Tom’s Jutti flats.
Also from Target- I am loving my Target swimwear. Since I am nursing (almost done weaning my toddler) I really need something that is full coverage with good support but still fun.
And I also love pairing it with my fave swim cover up from J. Crew!
Now my favorite thing to shop for- bags. I am loving my BCBG reversible tote I found at TJ Maxx on a random trip with my mom, but also available here. I also am into colorful totes when I don’t want to lug a diaper bag around but need the room…plus it is perfect for when I don’t want to go so black and white. This one is fun from India, but you can find similar here.
Oh and for that sunshine coming in, you have to have a good pair of shades. Check out my Tory Birch sunglasses with faux wood sides. Looks cute on anyone 😉 I also love my Layla sun hat from Nordstrom’s, similar here.
