winter weather making your skin dry? we’ve got what you need.

We are in the middle of winter which means drier air and one of the side effects that we all feel across the nation that comes with this time of year is drier skin.  The key to keeping yourself comfortable is to stay hydrated and moisturized.  Drinking lots of water helps your body stay balanced through the remainder of the season but you also need to protect your skin with a barrier in the form of the right moisturizer, whether it’s a cream or lotion.  Today, we’re offering up our top four skin moisturizer picks.  Hoping one or more of these will keep your skin silky smooth!

Stay soft this Saturday, gals!

Shea Moisture – Olive & Green Tea Lotion w/ Avocado

I have really dry skin and finding the right moisturizer is always a challenge.  The Shea Moisture Olive and Green Tea Lotion with Avocado is the perfect one for dry skin.  It’s very thick, much like a cream, but it leaves your skin very smooth and soft.

I don’t even need to apply it twice a day because it stays on your skin all day.   It’s a great price for a lotion with all natural ingredients.  It has no parabens, phthalates, paraffin, gluten, propylene glycol, mineral oil, synthetic fragrance/color, PABA or sulfates.  They do not conduct animal testing either.

I provided a link to the same brand and scent body oil, but you can’t buy this online, instead you can get it directly at your local Target store.

Aveda Hand Relief

Like Chai Momma Shraddha, the L’Occitane En Provence Shea Butter Hand Cream is my go to hand cream, (it was an essential in my scrubs’ pockets during dental school and residency while I was washing hands and putting on/taking off latex gloves all day long). But recently, I have discovered another hand cream that I equally adore. Aveda Hand Relief is incredible. It provides rich moisture, that actually gets absorbed into your skin so your hands don’t feel greasy, but instead super smooth.

I love Aveda products, (their hair stuff is awesome too!), since their mission is to use flowers, plants and essential oils in all that they make, offering plant-based products that are high quality yet still be respectful to mother earth. This cream contains hydrating plant emollients, humectants, exfoliating fruit acids and even antioxidants like vitamin A and E, (awesome for skin elasticity), so gives your hands the dryness relief while being good for them, too. Oh, and it comes in a travel size, which makes it perfect for your purse or diaper bag.

L’Occitane Shea Butter Hand Cream

This is the best hand cream – hands down (of course in my opinion only).  But trust me…this stuff is amazing.  Good hand creams are a challenge, since a lot of the options on the market are really hydrating but incredibly greasy.  The L’Occitane Shea Butter Hand Cream is the perfect solution since it’s super luscious, nourishing for dry hands( since it’s made with shea butter, coconut oil, almond extract and honey) but it absorbs incredibly quick…without leaving a sticky, greasy aftermath.

Quick tip…after applying this hand cream on your hands, you can totally use your fingers to moisturize the dry ends of your hair too.  Works like magic.

Bath and Body Works Aromatherapy Sleep Body Lotion (Warm Milk & Honey)

I really like this lotion because it’s an awesome choice for a good night’s sleep after a nice warm bath or shower.  As you all know, I’m pregnant and am in that stage of not being able to sleep well at night. So before I go to bed, lately I’ve been taking a warm bath and lathering on this lotion all over my body.

The consistency is pretty thick – made with honey and milk, so it stays on and helps with moisturizing dry skin. I love the smell of it too… it has cinnamon and clove essential oils, a perfect blend of aromas to help you get a good night’s sleep.
