a list of 10 books to read to your baby

I was organizing my kids book shelves the other day and came across many books that I read to them when they were babies.  I was just reminiscing on how my kids enjoyed my husband and I reading aloud to them (and they still do).  Both of my kids had their favorite books that they enjoyed.  So here is a list of books that we LOVE.

Good Night Moon by Margaret Wise Brown

1

This book is one of our favorite bed time story. We have read it so many times that my children have it memorized, so I do not even have to read it to them!

Brown Bear, Brown Bear, What Do you See? by Eric Carle

2

I read this book to my son and daughter when they were babies and saw how much it they loved it. We even made a song out of this book ,that when I read it now, they start singing the book as a song.

Toes, Ears and Nose by Karen Katz

3.

I love this author’s illustrations! The book is very vivid and with such bright colors.  I love that children can flip the flap over in the books when you are read to.

Baby Einstein Mirror Me by Julie-Aigner Clark

4.

ALL TIME FAVORITE!! This book has a mirror in it where the child can see themselves.  My kidddo’s loved looking at themselves every time I read this book to them.  Amazing how much a mirror can entertain kids!

The New Baby by Mercer Mayer

5.

This book is amazing for a new sibling to come.  This book is old but gold!  I read it to my older daughter when I was pregnant with my son and now I am reading it to both of them for the preparation of our 3rd little one!

Baby Beluga by Raffi

6.

“Baby Beluga in the deep blue sea, swim to wild and you swim so free….”, this book is so catchy.  It’s a book/song that get’s stuck in your head and the kids LOVE it!  I usually sing this song to my kids when they are taking a bath and they always sing along. 🙂

First 100 Words by Roger Priddy

7.

This is an amazing visual book, because of all the colors!  Babies/infants love visuals when they are this young and the plus about this book is that it is very durable and a strong hardcover book, so you can get slobber all over it.

On The Night You Were Born by Nancy Tillman

8.

I love, love, this book.  It is very touching and sentimental book. I read it to my kids when they were younger and it just showed them how blessed I was to have them in our lives.

Guess How Much I Love You by Sam McBratney

9.

An awesome book on how much a parent loves their child! It shows the meaning of love and nurture. The illustrations are also amazing.

Dr. Seuss’s ABC: An Amazing Alphabet Book

10.

You can never go wrong with a Dr. Seuss books.  We love his rhyming skills with words.  A book that teaches children their ABC’s in a fun way!

Hope this list helped anyone who is looking for books to read to their little one.  What books do you have that you read to your baby that I can add to this list? Would love to hear all about it. 🙂
